West Hove Landscape Photography

One of the biggest benefits of my job is that I end up in places I otherwise wouldn’t of been or seen.

West Hove Golf Club is one such place (I don’t play golf).

Commissioned to be the photographer for their new brochure I took a lot of beautiful images throughout the day. None however, quite as lovely as the image above.

This beauty and the potential to see more of it is a huge driving force in my artistry. It keeps my outlook fresh and challenges me to be creative.

It’s exciting to think what this year will bring.

Sussex Weather Report : LOTS OF SNOW!

West Highland Terrier in the snow

Harvey wondering what all this white stuff is

So here it is, all that snow we’ve been promised and to be fair, there’s quite a lot.

Heathrow Airport was closed, I’m still waiting on a delivery by Play.com from 2 weeks ago and my dog Harvey still doesn’t have a clue what all this white stuff is….except it’s cold…and it’s covering his toys…and he’s not impressed.

As a photographer this time of year things slow down a little bit for me so it’s good to know that if I feel the need to go out and take pictures of this lovely stuff I’ll have the time too.

On a photographic basis I love the snow, so pure and easy to work with. It brings light wherever it falls opening a whole world of creativity for me when I’m crazy enough to go out in it. After about 5 days though it loses it’s charm!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers from this year and those booked for the next and to wish everyone, a very merry Christmas.

By removing the colour they can end up quite sinister too

Commercial Photography – East Brighton Golf Club

Macro photography of a Golf Ball

East Brighton Golf Club

As part of my ongoing commercial work I’ve recently been assisting in the production of various promotional brochures.

The images shown are of East Brighton Golf Club - Offering some of the best views afforded to any local club.

From the highest point the views are simple breathtaking and it is one of the few clubs with a fully functioning halfway house at the 9th hole.

Landscapes and HDR photography

A HDR shot over the South Downs in Sussex

A view over the Downs in HDR

One of the benefits of dog ownership is that I get out a lot more.

Usually I’ll end up in a field somewhere with Harvey (my Westie) running up to cows (and running away again)  but I almost always bring the camera too.

Yesterday I took the above shot. Seven combined exposures created this image, all handheld.

Ordinarily I’m not a big fan of HDR images but on a sunny day where you have to either expose for the bright areas or the dark it’s a good way forward.
