The Photo Booth Strikes Again

The return of the Photo Booth,

Well it’s back, kicking and screaming from the darkest depths of the studio after a few winter months. THE photo booth as I like to call it. Although, more of a portable studio in it’s truest form (because it takes up some space).

This time it was for the Chilston Hotel’s staff Christmas bash last Sunday. For those working in the hospitality trade Christmas is a no go for parties and they usually get put forward to January instead.

I get asked about the booth a lot and usually for weekends but unfortunately I’m usually covering weddings at those times. But, I can supply wedding photography and the photo booth as a package.

This particular booth needs a floor area of 3×3 metres and the resulting images are professional looking, high resolution and studio quality which can be printed up to A3 in size.

I cannot unfortunately do prints on the day but it’s one less thing to carry around!

Annabelles Wigs Launch Party at Madame Jojo’s

A couple of weeks ago I was covering the launch party of Annabelles Wigs and Madame Jojo’s in Soho.

This was organized by Isabelle O’conner (PR) and she did a fabulous job organising and pulling everything together on the day.

Joey Bevan was there to style the wigs and be an all round nice guy.

Everyone who was anyone was there. Marie Claire, Elle and Bizarre magazine were there to name a few. Madame Jojo’s was well chosen with the bar, stage and seating areas all well defined.

A special hello goes to Alix Fox from Bizarre magazine for being lovely and bonkers at the same time.

Special mention must also go to Joey Bevan who took time out to style and demonstrate Annabelles Wigs along with his team.

We were also suitably graced at Madame Jojo’s with the presence of burlesque legends Diva Hollywood and Beatrix Von Bourbon who put on an amzing show which fully entertained everyone there.

Diva had a routine involving changing from a Mermaid into a leggy lady with her typical humorous twist and Beatrix Von Bourbon with her captivating and gracious moves…and her always shining smile.

A great day with Annabelles Wigs working alongside great people.

Madame Jojo's was an excellent choice for the launch party.

There were lots of models showing off the wigs.

Photo Booth Hire is increasingly common with portable studio demand rising. Whilst these setups are simple to do, they are very difficult to do right.

The trouble is space, there’s rarely enough at most events for a full setup and even then, fitting it into a car is impractical to near impossible without a van.

The Lastolite Hi-Lite gets around this by being pop-up in design. Very similar to those tents you see at festivals….only much bigger.

You still need to bring lighting equipment, you still need to fiddle with lighting the floor for that high hey look but it’s well worth the effort in the end.

The general footprint needed to operate the 8 x 7 ft version is about 3 x 2 metres.

For wedding receptions, corporate parties and events this is an absolute blessing because it gets the image right pretty much first time, every time, so you can print on-site almost straight away.

Photo Booth hire is a very cool thing to have at any event.

Professional photos are done quickly

You can fit 3-4 people in the frame on the 7 x 8 foot version

Last week I was asked to be the photographer at Chrissane ( the makers of the Strictly Come Dancing dresses ) by the Kids Taskforce.

The Kids Taskforce is a charity which raises awareness in children of the dangers they may face growing up and how to deal with them. I strongly recommend looking at the site if only to become aware of their work.

As someone who was bullied myself I wonder how my life would of been different if something like this was available to me some 20 years ago.

It’s nice to see something like this available today.
