Wedding Photography in Sandhurst – Charlotte and Conal

The first drive thru confetti throw of the year!

Wedding Photography – Charlotte and Conal

Charlotte and Conal’s wedding photography was a pretty big thing for me logistically with lots of locations to covers from start to finish.

Starting at Charlotte’s home in Hurst, Berkshire, then covering Conal’s prep in Bagshot (Laura got that one) and then off to the Immaculate Conception Church in Sandhurst, Wellington College and then back to Bagshot for the reception. It was a very big, long day but I wouldn’t of changed a thing!

Charlotte met Conal at Wellington College where they were both studying and things went forward from there. One of the things they asked me to do was to take some of their wedding photos at the college itself. This was pretty cool. The day was a little overcast and there were some funny looks mixed with lots of congratulatory shouting out during this time but it just added to the atmosphere!

We were gratefully given permission to walk around the grounds on the school, wedding photography isn't common here!

One thing you won’t see in the above photo is the people that ‘were’ in the background and the sandwich board at the front ;)

Nice touches were there throughout the day which all came together beautifully. They had hollowed out books on the reception tables with ipods in to listen to music and verse of importance to them. There ‘was’ a candy bar, they had a Keighley after their first dance and the wedding car was a stainless steel Vintage Vauxhall. Fabulous.

Below is some more Wedding Photography from the day.

Just the other week I had the actor Chris Cresswell in for some updated headshots. Chris has a large portfolio of work and was in Charlie and the Chocolate factory as the villain ‘Prodnose’.

Wedding at The Old Rectory Brentwood – Sophie and Ben

The Old Rectory Brentwood – Sophie and Ben

So lets cast back to the 11th of August this year (2011) to the wedding of the fab Sophie and Ben at The Old Rectory Brentwood in Essex.

It was a normal all day cover for me, starting at Sophie and Ben’s home, covering all the small details before moving onto the Old Rectory where Ben was waiting for Sophie to arrive.

The venue itself is nicely isolated but easy to get to from the main roads and is perfectly sized with the option to have the ceremony outside in the wooden gazebo. On this day though the weather wasn’t co-operating with us so proceedings took place inside.

Just 5 minutes ago they were all playing nicely

This wasn’t to say it was tipping down and there were lots of great pictures to be had outside as it was nice and warm. As part of the entertainment during the day the Iron Boot Scrapers were on hand playing their various whacky covers (recommended) and also video was there by the guys at Rideout Productions (also recommended) who were good enough to send me a copy of the DVD from the day.

Where no robot has gone before...

From a wedding photography standpoint I was really impressed with the venue, mainly for the location and surrounding grounds. There’s lots of variety close by so I’m not tying up anybody in one place for too long. At the back there is a large open space (complete with cows), there’s the gazebo, various benches, seats as well as an avenue of trees on the road that leads up to the house.

So if you are in Brentwood looking at venues, I’d give the Old Rectory a look.

BTW, they went to Hawaii!

Here’s some more images from the day :)

Cathedral Photography – Coutance Cathedral

notre dame cathedral coutance

Coutance Cathedral from the outside

Coutance Cathedral

When I’m not taking photos for others I enjoy getting away and taking photos for myself. I’m best suited to taking pictures of people but I’m not the sort to walk around taking random pictures of someone in the street. It saw me chased across a pier one summer so I don’t do it anymore. No joke.

When on a recent break earlier this year I stumbled across Coutance Cathedral in France. Also known as Notre Dame cathedral. I used a Tilt Shift lens for all of the images in this post. A couple have been stitched together and here’s a tip. These places are generally empty between 12 and 2pm as the tour guides are always on lunch…which is two hours long in France.

Headshots – Andrew Mulquin

Awesome Andrew as I prefer to call him. A chap that the camera loves, truly loves. I bet he looks this good at 3am drunk falling out of a club somewhere screaming ‘Taaaaxiiii!’

Seriously though, Andrew is an actor…. and actors usually drop by for some headshots to update their portfolio with. This was one of those shoots where everything worked brilliantly. The light fell perfectly on Andrew and he fell perfectly into a well framed image.

He looks a bit like a young Richard Branson, don’t you think?
